Last night Sarah and I hosted a Pure Romance and fondue party at our apartment. With 20 girls on the RSVP list, our place was in some serious need for pre-party scrubbing and cat-hair detoxification. We spent all Sunday, cleaning on our hands and knees. I even went so far to sweep underneath the couches, wash the windows, dust all surfaces including the windowsills, and hang the clock that fell off the nail six months ago. (I don’t often get in extreme cleaning moods.) By the time 5 o’clock rolled around, our house was sparkle-ready for the party.
By 5:30, everyone had shown up and our living room was packed with girls on both couches, dining room chairs and the floor, and the wine corks were popped. The Pure Romance hostess went through her presentation, while girls frantically scribbled items to buy on their Wish List. After the presentation, the hostess sat in Sarah’s room, where each girl went, one-by-one, to make her purchase.
Meanwhile, Jana (my beautiful fondue expert friend) whipped up two pots each of cheddar, Swiss and chocolate fondue. Her past experience as a manager at The Melting Pot gifted us four pots borrowed from the Seattle restaurant, their chocolate fondue and their cheese recipes. We were only serving fondue in style! Each girl either brought wine to drink or food for dipping, and our kitchen was transformed into a fondue factory.
The fondue was delicious, but the wine was the shopping-list lubricant. No pun intended. As the glasses were refilled and refilled again, some of my friends revisited their Wish Lists because they decided they needed something a little saucier. A “Wild Card,” if you will.
Our girl friends came ready to purchase!
And purchase they did. When it was all said and done, $750 in sex toy products were bought.
Baby Daddy couldn’t have said it better:
“Seattle is going to have a shortage in batteries after your party,” he said when I told him about it.
Meh. A few batteries short, but 20 very happy girls.
Currently Feeling: Absolutely elated. Best week ever.
Currently Anticipating: The final offer.
